Summary:

In 2007, an educational mission was coordinated to enable agricultural producers, power producers and others involved with bioenergy to witness firsthand the management and day-to-day operations of anaerobic digestion facilities in Switzerland, Austria & Germany. The 21 participants were drawn from a variety of sectors, including: the dairy, poultry, pork and aquaculture industry, Independent Power Producers (IPP), a provincial utility company, a Canadian embassy, a university, the National Research Council, Provincial Ministries, and a local entrepreneur. During the week the group visited 13 anaerobic digestion facilities and technology providers in the three countries. Each site visit was carefully chosen in order to showcase the versatility and practical applications of anaerobic digestion technology.
